Yuncaypata Family is a bike tour near the city of Cusco. Offering us the opportunity to visit small archaeological sites while we ride. You will enjoy mountain biking combining landscapes, culture, gastronomy and history.
We will pick you up from the hotel at 8:30 am to go to the high part of the city of Cusco, passing by the archaeological centers Sacsayhuaman, Puka Pukara and Tambomachay (We will have short stops to appreciate a little more the archaeological centers).
Yuncaypata is located at an altitude of 3736 meters above sea level. The community, like many of Cusco, is dedicated to agriculture and grazing of cows, sheep and Andean animals (llamas, alpacas). Their main product is the cultivation of potatoes of different varieties.
The village of Yuncaypata will be our starting point. In this place, our guide will give us a brief safety talk and provide us with safety equipment. We will ride along a road formerly used for logging, today, thanks to the collaboration of many cyclists, it has become a mountain bike circuit for beginners or to enjoy a good cycling tour with the family.
As we ride along the trail, we will observe agricultural areas, houses still made of mud, and sections of eucalyptus trees. The temperature at this altitude is cool on sunny and cloudy days and a little cold (about 15° Celsius).
At a certain point, we will arrive at an archaeological center called Kallachaka or Rumi Wasi, famous for its system of circular terraces and Inca canals that were used for rain containment and agriculture. We will follow the trail downhill, taking us into a beautiful forest. The trail gets a little more demanding, demanding a little more effort as you descend.
Depending on the ability of the group, our guide may modify the itinerary, making it longer and adding a higher level of difficulty to the tour.
After the bike tour, we will head to the Mariscal. This is a restaurant specializing in seafood, with ceviche being the main dish on the menu. It is here where an expert chef will give us a particular class in the preparation of Peruvian ceviche, you can make your own dish and then taste it. Finally we will have lunch for 45 minutes and then transfer to your hotel.
