Discover the ancestral trails once used by the Incas, trails located along the sacred valley of the Incas. A mix of difficulties and features for you to enjoy mountain biking at its highest level.
8:00 We will be waiting for you with our transportation to take you to your hotel in the Sacred Valley. After being accommodated, our team will help you with the assembly of your bike (if you have brought your bike) and we will have a brief safety talk and information about the trails that await us in our next few days.
At about 15:00 after lunch, we will have our first Classic Maras Trail destination, a trail that will help us with acclimatization. We will climb a mountain named Sacro. This place will be our starting point, we will put on our protective gear before riding and take a final look at the bikes and make sure everything is working well.
The trail starts with a rocky descent and some loose dirt, there are some fun ramps in the first section, easy to jump over. We will pass by the salt mines where our guide will explain a bit about their history.
Finally we will arrive to the community of Pichingoto, we will cross the Vilcanota River and our vehicle will be waiting to take us to our hotel in Urubamba.
We will rest in the Sacred Valley.
We start at 8:00 a.m. at the Raqchi viewpoint, where we will be able to observe the Vilcanota River mountain range and take good pictures. After the safety briefing and being ready with our protective equipment, we will begin the journey through a flowing section between houses made with typical characteristics of the Peruvian Andes. We will find on the way sections of stone, sharp curves and some small ramps that you can skip or dodge at will.
We will take short breaks while descending to admire the wonder of the Sacred Valley. After 2 hours of full flow, we will finish our tour in the town of Urquillos. We will take the opportunity to rest for a while to enjoy our box lunch and recharge our batteries.
After our short rest, we will go up to the community of Misminay where we will begin our descent into the Urubamba Valley. We will have a privileged view of the archaeological center of Moray, at this point you should take advantage to take your pictures. We will pass through flowing trails and with little demand of technique. We will arrive to a canyon where the circuit becomes more demanding, we will border the mountain by a singletrack with fun curves and good cambers.
We will descend to the community of Pichingoto where our transportation will be waiting for us on the other side of the Vilcanota River.
We spend the night in the sacred valley.
9:00 in the morning we will go to the Malaga pass, we will drive approximately 1h:30m until we reach our starting point. Already in the place we will feel a thermal sensation of 10 degrees depending on the season, if we are lucky we will observe the snowy La Veronica in its great splendor.
In the first section we will descend through wet areas and rocky sections, we will continue through a fluid area bordering the mountain until we enter a forest where the weather gets warmer and the trail becomes more demanding. We will find ramps and drops with little difficulty, making our experience more fun.
The circuit ends in the community of Pirhi, the vehicle will be waiting for us with boxlunch to recharge our batteries.
We will continue the tour going up to the archaeological center of Pumamarka, the starting point of our next tour. The descent will get interesting as we will cross platforms while the afternoon falls. The trail gets a bit technical, the rocks are protagonists but you will also find fluid sections with good grip.
We will end in the town of Ollantaytambo through its ancient streets preserved until today from the Inca period.
We will sleep in the Sacred Valley.
After breakfast around 9:30 a.m. we will go up to Abra de Lares, in this place we will have the opportunity to descend a loose dirt wall type Freeride (you can avoid it by using another trail). After the "wall" the circuit becomes a flowing sinlgetruck with bales of technical sections. We will cross a canyon by the side of a river, rolling down steps and an old cemetery that we will find almost at the end of the circuit. As we descend we will encounter Andean animals such as the famous llamas and alpacas. We will finish in the community of Tototora and we will take advantage of the time to rest and eat our box lunch.
Then we will go up to the archaeological center of Ancasamarca, 30 minutes driving from Totora. We will start the circuit with a section of stairs between Inca constructions. The circuit is quite fluid and technical after the steps and will take us into a forest of Queuña (endemic Peruvian tree) where we will find sharp curves that require a little more concentration, moderate verticals which makes our experience more fun.
We finish in the town of Calca after a great day of descending.
Our day begins at 9:00 in the morning, we will drive to the community of Sapacto. We will visit a small lagoon and get ready to begin our descent to 4300 masl. We will ride through flowing sections and some positive slopes until we reach an area of steep slopes. The rocks and loose terrains are present, you will be able to observe grazing plains and some agricultural areas. The circuit ends in the town of Lamay where our vehicle will be waiting for you.
After a break and enjoy the box lunch, we will go up to the community of Huama where another beautiful lagoon awaits us. We will take advantage of the view to take some pictures. Already ready with our implements we will descend towards the Lamay valley bordering the mountain between areas of potato cultivation of different varieties. The terrain is a little loose, with natural curves and small steps that make the descent more fun.
We will reach a forest of Eucalyptus trees where we will find a stage of fluid curves built by the same community for radical riders who like the fluid and technical.
Finally we will arrive at the village of Lamay where we will rest and enjoy a couple of craft beers.
Our last day you can rest after a few days of adventure you will have the opportunity to have a Peruvian cebiche class at the restaurant El Mariscal, our team will pick you up from your hotel to transfer you to the restaurant and finally transfer you to your hotel.
