Descend the route of the most famous MTB competition in Peru, the Inca Avalanche. Come with us to an adventure on the ancestral Inca trail, among the mountains of the Ollantaytambo valley.
As a cycling adventure lover, this tour is perfect for you Inca Avalanche, besides being a route you can ride with your family or friends. This is a race that has been growing every year.
We start early in the morning, leaving the hotel towards the Sacred Valley of the Incas until we reach the town of Calca, a town highly relevant for its size and importance within the Valley. From Calca, we will take a detour to start the ascent to the Urubamba mountain range for 40 minutes; we will travel the same road that leads to the mythical hot springs of Lares. Along the way, we will observe changes in the flora and Andean floors due to the change in altitude.
Then, we will pass by Ancascmarca, an ancient pre-Inca and Inca settlement or Llacta. The importance of this archaeological site is due to the fact that it was formerly a storage center for food produced in different ecological levels of the Valley prior distribution to the population. At this point of the road we have in the south the Qochoc ravine and the town of Calca; in the east the community of Pampallaqta and the hill Watapata; and in the west the hills Qosqo Qhawarina and Toroyoq. After passing the complex we will take a detour to the Lares pass where we will see Andean camelids and an Inca trail that we will descend.
Arriving at the pass of Lares, located at 4,470 meters above sea level, we will begin the bike tour and prepare for a long descent through a wide Inca Trail by which we will return to the lower part of the Sacred Valley. We will descend from the pass through a wide and important Inca trail or Qapaq Ñan, the main road of the Incas in the direction of the Antisuyo (Jungle). On the way we will observe Andean animals, such as llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, vizcachas and birds; as well as Andean settlers, people who still wear typical costumes and are dedicated to the agricultural and livestock activity inherited from their ancestors.
As we descend, the road crosses a canyon where flora and fauna converge in an impressive scenery. Along the way, we will rest and take the opportunity to take pictures and drink water. After crossing the canyon we will arrive at the community of Totora, where we will have the opportunity to leave things in the vehicle or make some necessary repairs to continue the descent through a beautiful wooded trail. Finally, we will arrive at the town of Calca where our vehicle will be waiting for us in the main square.
IMPORTANT: We will have the vehicle close by at all times in case any of the travelers feel exhausted, at any time they can continue the trip in the vehicle.
